How to Use Guide: Bluetooth® Dial-Up Networking* with VZAccess Manager

*Allows a Bluetooth enabled device to be used as a data modem by another device, such as a laptop.

Requirements

Before proceeding with the set-up instructions, first confirm that the basic requirements have been met.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Bluetooth-enabled laptop (embedded or USB Adapter) with Mac OS 10.2.3 or higher.

    Note: All screenshots below are from the Mac OS 10.4.6

    Make sure that the embedded or external Bluetooth adapter is fully set-up and enabled prior to installing VZAccess Manager.

    Note: Verizon Wireless does not provide support for Bluetooth embedded or external adapters. Please refer to the manufacturer's manual that came with your Bluetooth-enabled laptop for Bluetooth troubleshooting assistance.

  2. Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN) capable devices:

  3. A subscription to Mobile Broadband Connect. Please visit Verizon Wireless for Mobile Broadband subscription information.
  4. VZAccess Manager (version 3.0 or 3.1 depending on your device selected) downloaded and installed on the Bluetooth-enabled laptop.

    Note: To verify what version of VZAccess Manager you are running, open VZAccess Manager and select "Help", then select "About VZAccess Manager".

  5. Supporting Drivers for your Bluetooth DUN-capable phone.
