Bluetooth® Dial-Up Networking* with VZAccess Manager Windows® PC

*Allows a Bluetooth device to be used as a data modem by another device, such as a laptop.

Requirements

Before proceeding with the set-up instructions, first confirm that the basic requirements have been met.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Bluetooth-enabled laptop (embedded or USB Adapter) with Windows© 2000 or higher.
    • Make sure that the embedded or external Bluetooth adapter is fully set-up and enabled prior to installing VZAccess Manager.
      • Note: Verizon Wireless does not provide support for Bluetooth embedded or external adapters. Please refer to the manufacturer's manual that came with your Bluetooth-enabled laptop for Bluetooth troubleshooting assistance.
  2. Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN) capable Device.
  3. A subscription to Mobile Broadband Connect.
  4. VZAccess Manager(version 5.7.7 and above) downloaded and installed on the Bluetooth-enabled laptop.
    • Note: To verify what version of VZAccess Manager you are running, open "VZAccess Manager" and select "Help", then select "About VZAccess Manager".
  5. Supporting Drivers for your Bluetooth DUN-capable phone.
    • Note: Drivers are not required for Bluetooth DUN, but are required for tethering.


Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking Set-up

Note: Set-up steps vary depending on what version of Bluetooth software you are running on your laptop.

    1. Plug the Bluetooth enabling USB device into your laptop (if applicable). To verify that you have Bluetooth on your laptop, look for one of the disabled or enabled icons on your Windows Systems Tray. (Refer to the Icons Table.)
    2. Install the compatible version of VZAccess Manager (5.7.7 or above) on your laptop. You can obtain the software from the Mobile Office Kit CD-ROM or via the VZAccess Manager Download website.
    3. Once VZAccess Manager is installed, open the application. From the top navigation bar, select "Options", then "Run Wizard".


    1. Click "Next" to continue.


    1. Select "Detect WWAN device only (1xEVDO/1xRTT/CDMA)". Then click "Next".


    1. Click "Next" to detect a WWAN device.


    1. Under Connectivity Options, select "Bluetooth", then click "Next" to continue.


  1. Click the "Bluetooth Setup" button to pair your laptop with your device.
