Mobile Broadband Device Update

As part of our continued efforts to bring you the best service possible, we will begin upgrading our high-speed wireless broadband network in June 2009. In order to continue to enjoy all the great benefits of Mobile Broadband, customers with affected PC Cards and PDAs will need to download the appropriate software upgrade. Without this important software upgrade, your PC Card or PDA will no longer be able to connect to Mobile Broadband effective June 2009. Please read the following information to see if your PC Card or PDA requires an update.

Firmware Versions Required: If your device is listed below and does not have the firmware listed, you will need to follow the instructions to update the firmware.
  • Kyocera KPC 650
    • Version CG 1.0.06
  • Verizon Wireless V620
    • Version M6500 C-BBIRD_VZW_PCCARD-40306.171
      -OR-
    • Version M6500 C-BBIRDVZW_PCCARD-40306.156
      -OR-
    • Version M6500C-BBIRD-40304.135
  • Verizon Wireless XV6600 with Camera
    • Version CE:2.07.00 HA01_167/2.07.111
  • Verizon Wireless XV6600 without Camera
    • Version CE:2.07.00 HA01_167/2.07.112



How to Check Your Firmware Version:

For the Verizon Wireless V620 and Kyocera KPC 650:

  1. Locate "VZAccess Manager".
  2. Select "Help".
  3. Choose "About VZAccess Manager".
  4. Compare the Firmware Version with the one listed above.

For the Verizon Wireless XV6600 with and without Camera:

  1. Go to "Start".
  2. Select "Settings".
  3. Click on "System" tab.
  4. Select "Device Information".


If your firmware needs to be upgraded, please follow the steps below.

Important: Read all directions before upgrading your device. If these steps are not followed in order, you will not be able to connect to Mobile Broadband / NationalAccess.

WINDOWS

Kyocera KPC 650:

  1. Download the Firmware by right clicking on the link and choosing "Save As". When prompted to save, save the file to your local hard disk. DO NOT RUN THE FILE YET.
  2. Download the newest version of VZAccess Software Manager.
  3. Disconnect and close VZAccess Manager.
  4. Uninstall your old version of VZAccess Manager.
  5. Install the new version of VZAccess Manager and complete the Setup Wizard.
  6. Disconnect and close VZAccess Manager.
  7. Run the firmware update that you saved in Step 1 and follow the installation wizard to complete the update.
  8. Restart the computer.

Verizon Wireless V620:

  1. Download the Firmware by right clicking on the link and choosing "Save As". When prompted to save, save the file to your local hard disk. DO NOT RUN THE FILE YET.
  2. Unzip the contents of the download.
  3. Download the newest version of VZAccess Software Manager.
  4. Disconnect and close VZAccess Manager.
  5. Uninstall your old version of VZAccess Manager.
  6. Install the new version of VZAccess Manager and complete the Setup Wizard.
  7. Disconnect and close VZAccess Manager.
  8. Run the firmware update and follow the installation wizard to complete the update.
  9. Restart the computer.

Verizon Wireless XV6600 with Camera:

  1. Download the Instructions.
  2. Download the Firmware.
  3. Follow the download instructions to upgrade your firmware.

Verizon Wireless XV6600 without Camera:

  1. Download the Instructions.
  2. Download the Firmware.
  3. Follow the download instructions to upgrade your firmware.


MACINTOSH

Please note that PC cards with VZAccess Manager Software for Mac OSX were shipped with the upgraded firmware. If you have an older device that requires a firmware upgrade, please update using Windows (2000 or higher) by following the instructions above.
