Device Lock - Samsung Galaxy Tab® 2 (7.0)
If using Microsoft Exchange / Corporate sync, pattern lock may be unavailable.
Setup screen lock
Lock the device
Unlock the device
- From a home screen, select Apps
.
Located at the bottom when viewed in portrait or at the right in landscape.
- From the Apps tab, select Settings.
- Select Lock screen.
If secured, enter / draw the current PIN, password or pattern.
- Select one of the following.
Swipe
Face Unlock
Pattern
PIN
Password
None
- Select Set it up.
- Select Continue.
For best results, find an indoor location with good lighting.
- Align the facial outline to capture face.
- Select Continue.
- Select one of the following backup locks.

PIN
Pattern (Backup to Face Unlock)
- Draw an unlock pattern then select Continue.
Pattern must contain at least 4 dots.
- Draw the pattern again then select Confirm.
- Select OK

- Enter the preferred PIN then select Continue.
PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
- Enter the PIN again to confirm then select OK.
- Select OK

- Draw an unlock pattern then select Continue.
Pattern must contain at least 4 dots.
- Draw the pattern again then select Confirm.
- Enter the preferred backup PIN then select Continue.
PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
- Enter the PIN again then select OK.

- Enter the preferred PIN then select Continue.
PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
- Enter the PIN again to confirm then select OK.

- Enter the preferred password then select Continue.
Password must contain at least 4 characters.
- Enter the password again to confirm then select OK.

Security lock is engaged once the device has been idle for a specified length of time (e.g. 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes, etc.) then the display is turned off.
To adjust the Security lock timer, refer to Password Options for assistance.
- Press the Power button to turn the display off.
If Screen timeout is enabled, the display will automatically turn off once the device has been idle for a specified length of time (e.g., 15 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc.). To adjust the Screen timeout, refer to Display Settings for assistance.

Unlocking the device when Screen lock is set
- If the display is dark press the Power key.
- When presented, perform one of the following:
- Look at the device.
- Enter the Password then select Enter.
- Enter the PIN then select OK.
- Draw the pattern.
If the unlock password, pattern or PIN are forgotten and the Google Account credentials are not available, a hard reset will need to be performed.

- If the display is dark press the Power key.
- Select and swipe finger on screen.
