Hard Reset - Thunderbolt™ by HTC
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google® account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.
If the preferred method is not available, there is an Alternate Method.
When attempting to determine if a 3rd party application is the cause of an operating system / application issue on a device that does not support Automatic Restore , skip the Google Account setup during the initial setup of the device.
- From a home screen, select All apps (located at the bottom).
- From the All apps tab, select Settings.
- Select Storage.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Select Reset phone.
If presented with unlock screen, draw / enter the required pattern, PIN or password.
- Select Erase Everything.
- Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.
- Power the device off.
- Press and hold the Power Key (located on the upper edge).
- Select Power Off.
- Press and hold the Power Key (located on the upper edge).
- Press and hold the volume down key (located on the right edge) then press and hold the Power key.
When the HBOOT screen appears, release both keys.
- Press the volume down key to select Factory Reset then press the Power key.
The boot process takes several moments, refer to the progress bar (located in the upper right). If the device hangs or freezes, remove / replace the battery.
