Determining Signal Type / Strength - VZAccess Manager (4G)
If the device is located outside of the 4G Mobile Broadband Coverage Area, then the device will revert to a 3G Mobile Broadband connection, if available. When connected to 3G Mobile Broadband, the device will not experience the same speed or throughput.

- Ensure the device is connected to the computer.
- Launch VZAccess Manager.
From the Windows desktop, navigate: Start > All Programs (Programs) > VZAccess Manager.
- From the status bar (located in the lower left), verify the available network listed e.g. Mobile Broadband (4G LTE).

- From the VZ Access Manager main screen, locate the signal strength indicator (located to the right of the available networks).
If the device is experiencing low or no signal strength, ensure the antenna is fully extended and perpendicular to the computer. If signal strength does not improve, move the device to a location where it receives a stronger signal.

Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) / Signal to Noise ratio (SINR)
- From the top menu, click Help > WWAN Device Info.
- Verify the RSSI and the LTE SINR. For a reliable connection,
- The RSSI should be greater than -58 dBm (e.g. -32 dBm). A value of -96 dBm indicates no signal. If the signal is between -82 dBm and -96 dBm, move the device to an alternate location (an outdoor location is preferable).
- The LTE SINR should be greater than 12.5. The connection may drop to a 3G network with an SINR value of -6, resulting in slow speeds.
