Hard Reset - DROID X by Motorola
Personal data such as Wi-Fi passwords, Browser bookmarks, User dictionary, a list of installed Market apps and other customized settings can be backed up to and restored from Google's servers.
Disable Automatic Restore prior to performing a hard (factory) reset when attempting to determine whether a 3rd party app is the cause of an Operating System / App issue.

- From a home screen, select App menu (located in the lower right).
- Select Settings.
If the app icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
- Select Privacy.
- Select Factory Data Reset.
- Select Reset Phone.
If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
- Select Erase Everything.
- Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
If the device isn't responding to input, remove/replace the battery.
- Press and hold the Home key then power the device on.
Press the Power button while holding Home.
- From the Android Recovery screen, press Volume Up/Down simultaneously.
- Press Volume Down to select wipe data/factory reset then press the Power button.
- Press Volume Down to select Yes -- delete all user data then press the Power button.
Reset process to may take approximately 1 minute.
- Using the Volume Down key, ensure reboot system now is selected then press the Power button.
- Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.
- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.

- Press and hold the Home key then power the device on.
Press the Power button while holding the Home key.
- From the Android Recovery screen, press the Search key.
- Select wipe data/factory reset then select Ok (located in the lower left).
If the touch screen isn't functioning, use the Volume down to select wipe data/factory reset then press the Camera key.
- Select Yes -- delete all user data then select Ok(located in the lower left).
Reset process to may take approximately 1 minute.
- Select reboot system now then select Ok.
- Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.
